This is what I would do if I were looking for a wedding photographer…

Friday 16th April marked 10 years that I have been photographing weddings. It is, without a doubt, the greatest thing I have ever done in my life. I have never had to find a wedding photographer. People often ask me who I would choose? Absolutely no idea!
If I did manage to meet and fall in love with my Lobster this is what I would do!

Find a photographer whose work you absolutely love!

I know that seems obvious, but these photos are forever. Choose someone whose work you are absolutely in love with. Look at their work, can you see yourself in these photos? Is this the kind of imagery you want framed in your house or as your screen saver? If the answer is not yes then they aren’t the one for you.

Start with social media, Instagram is a great place to start and here is where you will see the very best images that a photographer has to offer. This is where many of my clients first discover me, it’s a great way to see my images and get to know me a little better.
After that I would encourage you to look at the website. This is the photographers shop front and it should tell you everything you need to know about them as well as showing you a broad range of work. I just finished the refurbishment on my site and I am adding new images ang calleries all the time.
With some of the weddings I have featured I include the full range of images from morning prep to evening reception so that you can see the kind of imagery I produce. Have a look here

There are so many wedding photographers out there, but doing the work and finding someone whose work you adore will be worth it in the end.

Remember there is a person behind that camera

Again, it seems like a very obvious statement, but it is so important that you like the person who is taking your wedding photos. I always want to have a good connection with my Brides and Grooms. After all, I will be with you on the most important day of your life, I will be sharing some very intimate and private moments with you and I will be interacting with all the people you love most in the world. That’s why I think it’s so important that you like me and feel comfortable being around me.
Ask yourself this: Would I invite this person to my wedding as a guest, would I be friends with them? If the answer is yes then you might have just found your wedding photographer.

Don’t let budget be your only consideration

The photographs are one of the only things that you will keep long after your wedding day is over. The wedding photography is not an area of your wedding where you should look for the cheapest option. Set a budget, but also keep in the back of your mind that this may need to be increased if you find someone you like, whose work you love, but whose prices are outside of your budget.

Choose someone to capture the moments

I believe your wedding day is a series of amazing moments big and small and you want someone who will capture them all. (That wasn’t supposed to rhyme)
My approach to your wedding is to allow the day to happen naturally, because of that I am able to capture priceless moments like this. For me photographs like this one are lightning in a bottle. Nothing gives me greater joy than to freeze a moment in time and give to my clients so they can keep it forever.
And many of the moments that are captured you won’t see or register on the day. That is why you hire a professional wedding photographer.

Choose someone who goes above and beyond

Don’t you want someone who is as excited as you for your big day?? Someone who notices all the little things you did and loves all the details as much as you. I see it again and again with some wedding venues and suppliers, where they treat it like it’s just another wedding day. No, that won’t do! This is your big day…It’s the biggest day. You’re excited? I AM EXCITED! One thing I can promise you is that I will go above and beyond for your wedding day.
It’s the most important day of your lives, it is only right that I treat it as such. I will do anything to get that perfect shot or angle, even if it means standing on a 12ft gate!
